The US Marines 3rd BN 4th Marines are also known as the thundering third. This great 1.5" diameter U.S Marine Corps Challenge Coin is dedicated to the soldiers of the thundering third. The battalion was constituted on 1 October 1925 at the Naval Operation Base, San Diego, California. They have participated in World War II campaigns in Philippines, Solomon Islands, Treasury-Bougainville, Bismarck Archipelago, Guam and Okinawa. The golden Challenge coin is a perfect tribute and has the fighting third’s insignia and the US Marine Corp Insignia too is engraved. |
