The Third Marine Aircraft Wing was commissioned on Nov. 10, 1942, at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C. This special challenge coin represents the Commanding General of the 3D. The 3D’s combat history goes back to the World War II deployment of a bomber squadron on Dec. 3, 1943. The US Marines 3D commanding general challenge coin is an ultimate collections item and is available in a hue of colors.
