Rope edging is a specialty type of edging which is not sharp and adds meaning to a coin instantly. When someone sees a rope on a coin it automatically reminds of people of the ocean. This could mean only one thing…this is the most common on the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard coins. You will not find this edging on other branches coins, and if you do it’s a rarity. Pros: - Looks really cool
- Gives a distinct style to the coins
- Does not scratch other coins
Cons: - Adds about $.13 to each unit
Not very many cons on this edging, so if you like it then why not try it out…unless you’re not in the USN or USCG.
