We sponsor teams, events, people, and much more and in this section you can see what's going on with the projects we sponsor and their contributions to society.
While Manny Pacquiao has been enjoying his mega success in and out of the ring all around the world, other boxers are still coming out of the Philippines. U.S. Challenge Coins, LLC had another great opportunity in the boxing world in Malolos, Philippines. A young boxer named Jecker Buhawe is making inroads to an international title with us sponsoring him through each step of the way. Before long we will see him rise out of the beautiful Philippines and into our living rooms on pay-per-view. He has a lot of fans at home that are getting very excited about the direction his career is going.
Jecker is a special boxer that has a lot of hunger and that will get him on the world stage. I met his manager Arther Afable while I was on a trip to Malolos in early 2010. He told me all about Jecker and what he was doing to get to the top. After hearing about this young boxer it didn't take much to make a decision on getting him wearing the U.S. Challenge Coin brand and having him fighting out there in our colors. Besides my family being Filipino, I thought this would be a great way to reach in and be a part of something very exciting. We had shorts done for Jecker and got him all the things he needed to be successful.
This summer Jecker will have several fights in the Philippines before he has the opportunity to travel abroad and show the international boxing community his skills inside the ring. He trains hard each and everyday and is determined to bring another success home to his community. We have seen a lot of great things form the Philippine Islands and this will be another wonderful additional to their bragging rights. His work with Hardcore Boxing Gym in Malolos, Philippines is really paying off and you can see it in the Youtube video.

With bouts through the summer we should see Jecker move onto the international circuit and go for the title. We are very excited to bring him an opportunity not only to the Filipino people but also to our company. As his fights develop we will add additional content about Jecker, Arthur Afable, and the success this partnership brings. Make sure you check back often to see the news about Jecker.
We would also like to say thank you to Jecker and his management team for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of this experience. While Jecker does all the heavy lifting we can only sit back and be proud of what he is accomplishing. To the Filipinos out there, please pay attention...you are about to have another reason to be very proud!

Sometimes a sponsorship is more than some money to an organization of an individual and it's just really awesome. Well we hit the awesome part in having an opportunity to sponsor a roller derby team. How often do you get a chance to see the women of roller skating zipping around and knocking each other around with your name behind it? Not very often is the answer. Well our sponsorship of the Soul City Sirens, team was a fantastic opportunity for us to put our name behind. Not only was the team fantastic in owning the skate circle but they loved having us out there cheering them on.
The team itself is not only having a blast with what they are doing each week but they are really aggressive out there. They are actually based in the same city as our headquarters, Augusta, GA. It was a natural fit in supporting them this season and being able to go to their events. U.S. Challenge Coins, LLC is a proud main sponsor of the Soul City Sirens roller derby team. If you want to learn more about the Sirens please visit the official Soul City Sirens homepage!
When they aren't serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, or other less than desirable places around our globe they are hitting the courts around USAFE. The Aviano Dragons from Aviano AB, Italy were looking for a bit of support to get them dressed to play around the European theater and turned to our company. They play tournaments and games from Italy to Germany and the surrounding areas. The coaches new that reaching out for possible support could help them reach their goals of getting the right uniforms for their players. As funds for sports dwindle along with the Air Force budget for such activities it becomes harder to get the right stuff for your team.
They were in need of some new court wear so we offered to cover a large portion of their uniform budget for the 2010 season which included home, away, and warm-up gear. U.S. Challenge Coins turned to their uniform makers to see what we could make happen for these gentlemen and get them outfitted properly. About 5 weeks after their request for support we were able to get the new uniforms out in the mail for them so they can play the rest of the season in style and carry the uniforms into the next season.
The guys on the Aviano base basketball team were highly appreciative of the support we gave them and we are proud to be able to give back what we can for the team. It's not every day we get the opportunity to give back to such activities. We look forward to future chances to give them more so they can continue their success around Europe.
It was November 2009 when I picked up the phone to call Patrick and asked what he thought about giving away 200 free challenge coins. At first I could tell that he was calculating how much that was going to cost us. It didn’t take but a minute though for us both to agree it was time again to give back to someone special, someone who gives day in and day out. We turned to the U.S. Challenge Coins Facebook page to handle the deed of finding someone who really could use this. I made the initial posting that we would select who we thought was deserving from those recommended in our discussion thread.
After the turn of the year we started 2010 off with the decision that Janey Turner was the winner. Believe me the choice wasn’t easy as each post was for a deserving entity. However, we knew we could only choose one and that decision was for Janey. She just received the gift of 200 coins custom minted for her project of Hands for Soldiers. When we dug in and found that she started when she was only 8 years old sending soldiers care packages abroad to the war zone. Many soldiers over the course of 6 years received over 16,000 packages that she now assembles with her CAP (Civil Air Patrol) squad. We were overwhelmed with the scale of what her dedication was.
Patrick took the job of designing a special coin for Janey with the help of her and her mother. It took a few weeks to nail down the right design for her project and we ended up with a 2” coin that captures her devotion to the deployed men and women of the Armed Forces. When the coins finally came in Patrick went to South Carolina personally to hand the coins to Janey and thank her for the project. He received a warm welcome and was introduced to her CAP unit.
As a military company and I mean U.S. Challenge Coins is built from the fabric of military members current and retired, we could easily find the project heartwarming to know there are people like this that exist in our society. See we know that no one forced her to spend her time developing such a program. She could do anything she wants with her time but she found it rewarding putting smiles on troops thousands of miles around the globe separated from their loved ones. To witness a 14-old take the pride that she has shown is truly an honor and I have no doubt that our small contribution will help in her project.
Janey is the first of many that will be selected in our quest to find the deserving individuals for our coin donations. Patrick spoke volumes of his trip to hand the coins to her in person and her CAP group to include their commander welcomed us for this special event. We can only hope that others will recognize her efforts and assist her program so she can keep making a difference. Today we have received additional request from individuals to keep funding her coin so she can give them to people she touches through Hands for Soldiers.
