Displays (This service is temporarily not supported)
Our displays stand out from the rest, whether it would be a challenge coin display or a shadow box, we pride ourselves on creating a unique way to display your challenge coin collection. We have standard displays for coins in our store, but what people don’t realize is that we are a custom display shop as well. We can assist you in the process of designing a display that is personalized and made from a special wood of your choice. The end result? A beautiful display or shadow box to house your challenge coins and your career achievements for a lifetime. We know your coins, ribbons, patches and everything that comes along with it, are valuable. So valuable that housing it in a stained pine or oak box is almost a crime.
We are a veteran based company and we know what it takes to show off years of dedication to the U.S. Military. Most companies use the “veteran” status to show that you should trust us, here we use it because we want you to understand we have been and continue to be here today serving. We know the importance, and we want to gain your trust from the examples we show throughout our site.
Displays come in different shapes, sizes, textures, and colors. The beautiful woods we use will enhance and not detract from what you want to display. We have about 50 woods at anytime to choose from and you won’t catch an ounce of stain on our lumber. You pick the color and we will guide you towards that natural color of the timber. Most customers say,” Wait your telling me you actually use really rare or hardwoods for your displays?” We say,” You bet! You will have to find your Pine, or Oak somewhere else!” This is what sets us apart from the competition. Everyone has a similar display, but how many can say they hand picked each piece of wood and build it by hand to fit your needs? Only a very few, but it is our customer service and quality workmanship here at U.S. Challenge Coins.com that puts us over the top!
An Example of Custom Care
We had a request come in from a customer that wanted something he could hang on the wall and hold 100 coins. He stressed how important these coins were since he earned them all. It was obvious this meant a lot to him, and we knew this had to be special. So, we designed the project and sent over the image of the design. He approved and complimented that we were the first to get it right without any revisions…of course this was a great sign of things to come.
Once a design is good to go, the design gets sent to the wood shop to get the initial build. In this case we decided to go with a Black Walnut. This was a great choice since the wood has a nice dark and light grain to it and would set the tone for the Challenge Coins to be placed inside. The display case was built and ended up being able to place about 125 coins in giving him a little extra room for the money. So it is said, we design for a 2” coin standard for any display. This makes the process easy and we never have to worry about incorrectly sizing something.
Once the display was sent, our customer called us to let us know that he very pleased with how everything went and it was already hanging up on the wall with coins placed within 24 hours of receiving it. This is what we call a very successful display and we couldn’t have been happier.
The Woods
Woods are special, and they all have something unique to give in each project. Whether it’s Rosewood, Black Walnut, or a Brazilian Cherry, you can guarantee there is one for you. You choose the wood through pictures we have or samples from the internet. Once the wood is chosen we take a trip to the specialty shop and buy your wood buy the foot. We don’t keep many in stock because woods usually start at $7 a foot all the way to $60 a foot. We use hardwoods from the rain forests, and different locations around the world. Whether your challenge coin display or shadow box is going into your office or home you can easily color match it with your furniture by going through different types of woods. We don’t use stains to change the color so it’s important to know the woods to use. We can help you go through and get the color of your choice.
The Design
We don’t charge on the design of your display. However, if you choose to use our custom design to have it made somewhere else we will hold you copyright infringement standards. Our designs are pieces or art and though they can be copied easily, we take pride in our work. We own the rights to all our designs. Besides the bad part of designing there are many benefits to having something specialty made.
We will go through designing your display through email, messenger, or even phone to get it right for you. We think giving the design process to you for free helps you get something special in the end without having to pay such a high price. You give us the details and we will see if we can match that and then move into production quickly because we also know you’re on a time line.
Production and Final Stages
We first move into production of our displays with a mock-up with plywood to ensure a proper fit, and look. If you care to see the mock up we will mail you some pictures to see the “First Draft”. We will cut it all, prep it for construction, and then once it is finally made we take a couple days to coat it with a sealer that maintains the final look for years and years. Some displays can take a week to make or possibly 4-5 weeks from start to finish. We don’t do rush jobs, but we are not snails. This is a family run business as well, I think it is fair to warn you that we are perfectionists and won’t send out a half-ass piece of work just to close a job and finish payment. We have been known to throw away hundreds of dollars of wood just because it didn’t get sanded right, or have a scratch in it. We take pride in our products and we think you will appreciate that in the end.
Shipping
Shipping is a huge subject in its own. Some displays can weigh a lot. We pass the entire cost of wrapping and shipping charges to you. Obviously this is not a part of the process we can absorb. We can ship anyway you like but we prefer either UPS Ground, or USPS Priority. We prefer these mainly because they are both right down the street from the wood shop. Your design gets made in GA while the production takes place in RI. This is odd…right? Nah, it’s only appropriate since half the business staff is still serving this wonderful country and can’t be home to build these gems.
In the End
We know that our dedication and professionalism will win you over to be a repeat customer. When you deal with Military Challenge Coin .net for your challenge coin or shadow box display needs, you are dealing with a grade “A” company. Try us today and see what we are about!
